Murderworld 2012
The sound of spotlights coming on could be heard, and the darkness that had embraced the people within the room had disappeared. Instead, they were on what looked like an elaborate stage... something out of a reality TV show like the Bachelor. As if things could not get stranger, a large, 65" LED TV came to life, showing a young woman in a white jacket, green shirt, and a horrible yellow and orange polka dot tie.
"Ah! Our lovely contestants have woken up! Welcome, welcome one and all to Murderworld 2012!" The neuro-implants in the sides of her eyes began to glow a bright green in color, and her face had a large smile upon it. "These contestants were carefully selected to take part in the most fun, and dangerous version of Murderworld yet! Winners get to live, if we have any winners, that is. And the losers? Well, they get to die horribly painful and elaborate deaths!"

Re: Nuclear Town
But even if he did see it, did he have enough time to find the actual shelter in time?
Re: Nuclear Town
Though he knew the nuclear symbol when he saw it. The turtle skidded to a stop and ran back toward the school. He hoped the school and its shelter weren't as fake as the population of this suburb.
Athos ran up to yank a door open to get inside.
Re: Nuclear Town
Re: Nuclear Town
He jumped down the stairs as many at a time as he could managed without hurting himself. He didn't have an internal timer and didn't want to get caught without SPF Lead.
Re: Nuclear Town
Cherished Memories
That was what the cover said, and it looked old, but not 1950's old.
Re: Nuclear Town
He tried to figure out how to lock and seal the door. If he could accomplish that, he'd investigate his surroundings. Maybe thumb through the book on the cot.
Re: Nuclear Town
As he leafed through the book, there were pictures inside of a much younger Alisa Lebeau. In each photo, she was either by herself, or people were far away from her. They showed class pictures, her High-school graduation (to which she graduated VERY early), College Graduation (Again, she graduated incredibly early), a picture of her working at the MET authenticating art, and a picture of her working for Alistaire Shaw. None of those pictures showed a smile. The last picture in there did, however, show her with a smile and even being silly.
Alisa was photographed with a striking blonde man, hugging one and other, and making silly faces in other pictures. She looked human, loved, and even comfortable for the first time in her whole life. She did not look like the villain she appeared at the start to Murderworld.
Attached to the final page was a key. Was it the key to the collar? Or another clue?
Re: Nuclear Town
He took the key from the final page and tossed the book aside. He cautiously inspected the collar around his neck with one hand while he set the key to balance on his knee.
He doubted the collar that would explode on him needed a metal key to unlock, but it never hurt to check now that he had some time to not posture or run for his life.
Re: Nuclear Town
After five or so minutes, the door opened on it's own. Everything was dark outside of the room. Any mannequins outside of the door of the shelter appeared burnt and misshapen. One even appeared to be missing a head, and had legs where it's arms had once been. An odd creaking could be heard all around him, but it was hard to place.
Re: Nuclear Town
He might have been a mutant ninja turtle, but his was all genetic and not radiation induced.
With nothing of note coming to his untrained eye, he silently moved toward the open door. He doubted his mask would save him from radiation, but it was all he had. He stuck his head out the door to make sure no surprises were coming before making his way out of the shelter and the school.
Re: Nuclear Town
Oddly enough, ALL of the buildings were still standing, just dirty looking, now. And it was dark... as though it the sun were hiding in the clouds. There was no Nuclear Fallout or bomb. It was as though going into the Fallout Shelter just changed where he had been!
Re: Nuclear Town
He went on the defensive and tried to back himself out of the misshapen automaton crowd.
He afforded the scenery only a squinted suspicion before knocking a mannequin head off. These things were already burnt and melted, he doubted his powers would be useful at the moment.
Re: Nuclear Town
However, their appeared to be a way out of it all! Near-by, there was an open sewer cover. Not just any sewer cover, but one big enough for Athos to get in and cover securely! The automatons kept walking past it, not even falling in! Perhaps they were blind to it or programed to avoid it.
Re: Nuclear Town
He angled himself that way. Then he used his sai to trip a couple mutilated mannequins into the others. It would only hold them back for a hair's breadth, but that was all he needed to make a break for the sewer opening. He jumped for it as hits thunked off his shell.
Re: Nuclear Town
Athos was not alone, it appeared, someone came up behind him and tried to hit him in the head with a broom, before realizing he was not the enemy.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" The woman apologized to Athos. "I thought you were another of those... those THINGS! They got Brandon and Jeff... they just... it was horrible!"
Re: Nuclear Town
He heard someone coming up behind him and just managed to spin himself out of the way. He was in a defensive posture when the woman started talking. He straightened up slightly and pointed at the bodies.
"Brandon 'n Jeff?"
Re: Nuclear Town
She motioned for Athos to follow her, still clutching the broom in her hands.
"We need to get to the LeBeau residence... the only house that has a picket fence in this world. There is a kill switch to turn off the automatons in this world and open the exit. Arcade named it after the body he's hi-jacked... he's... he's sick, twisted!"
Re: Nuclear Town
When she started forward with her mighty broom, Athos followed. This woman might turn stag but standing around wasn't going to get him out of this place.
"He's barmy," he agreed with a growl. He kept his sai at the ready. He moved along much more quietly behind the scientist.
Re: Nuclear Town
"This is the sewer that leads to the house we need to go to. If we're lucky, the Automatons are still waiting by the manhole you jumped down earlier!" She pointed out. "The kill switch is in the living room, under a lamp in the shape of a mermaid. Now try to leave as quietly as possible. The Automatons respond to light and sound."
Re: Nuclear Town
He motioned for her to stay there before climbing up the ladder to the cover. He hooked a foot around to keep him steady as he tested how firmly the cover was down and how much muscle he needed to open.
He held his breath as he pushed up to give himself a chance to peek around.
Re: Nuclear Town
"So close, yet so far!" She mocked Athos. "Come, listen to the music of my people!"
With that, her mouth open up completely and she let of an ear piercing screech, alerting the other automatons to their location! Athos would have to move quickly to get to the kill switch! Perhaps someone hacked into this automaton to let him know the location, and get him out. But now, they may have lost control and she has returned to her true form!
Either way, he had less time to think about it! He had to get to that switch!
Re: Nuclear Town
Not that it would slow the others from coming, but the turtle wanted some vengeance before running as fast as he could toward the picket fence house.
Re: Nuclear Town
Inside, the house replicated one of the pictures he saw inside of the photo album not long ago. Same mermaid lambs, same gaudy couch, same fuzzy carpet. It was like the damn place had not changed since the 1960's! But that did not matter, what mattered was finding that kill switch and heading for the exit!
Re: Nuclear Town
Athos headed straight for the mermaid lamps. He swatted at them to find the killswitch. He wanted out of here. Though that was assuming the automaton had been on the level with him.
But if not, he assumed the building burning down around him would have the same effect.
Re: Nuclear Town
Instead, a door opened up, revealing a corridor outside. Along the far wall was the words "Medieval World" written on the side, while on the wall Athos was closest to had "Nuclear Town" written upon it. He was out, and now he could make Arcade pay for this.
