Murderworld 2012

The sound of spotlights coming on could be heard, and the darkness that had embraced the people within the room had disappeared. Instead, they were on what looked like an elaborate stage... something out of a reality TV show like the Bachelor. As if things could not get stranger, a large, 65" LED TV came to life, showing a young woman in a white jacket, green shirt, and a horrible yellow and orange polka dot tie.

"Ah! Our lovely contestants have woken up! Welcome, welcome one and all to Murderworld 2012!" The neuro-implants in the sides of her eyes began to glow a bright green in color, and her face had a large smile upon it. "These contestants were carefully selected to take part in the most fun, and dangerous version of Murderworld yet! Winners get to live, if we have any winners, that is. And the losers? Well, they get to die horribly painful and elaborate deaths!"

Mary stared at the key for a moment, trying to decide if this was a trap or not. It probably was, but she was... extraordinarily adaptable, to say the least.

She enlarged, resuming her normal shape. "Okay," she said, pulling open the box. "Show me the money."

Mary didn't have time to fully read or even comprehend the material, instead, she was forced to create a flesh "pocket" in her midsection and store the materials there. It would limit some of the shapes she could take for the moment, since she'd have to have enough mass to maintain that

When the water started pouring in, she reached down and scooped up a handful, tasting it. She was susceptible to poisons, to a certain extent, of course, but she needed to take the risk here...

Fresh water. Okay. So that told her what kinds of shapes she could take if she had to. For now, she settled for forming a set of gills, forming a membrane over her eyes, and webbing her hands.

"Oh, flarg me," Mary muttered, wincing at the bites. Her particular variety of shapeshifting meant she could lose portions of her mass without any overall cost... but that didn't mean it didn't hurt like hell. Especially when she couldn't concentrate to try and armor up against it.

Green blood filled the water, making it harder to see.

She winced again, forcing herself to concentrate past the pain. She pulled some of her mass from her arm, along with the bones and nerves, and let the piranha bite through it, biting her lip to keep from screaming. But it gave them all a big chunk of meat to eat.

While they were distracted, she squeezed herself through the open box, away from them.

Mary slunk against the wall trying to catch her breath. More importantly, she was trying to regrow her arm and force the rest of her injuries to heal. Some of them she could fix more easily, but some she'd have to take some time to heal too.

"Well," she said quietly, "this has been a day full of surprises."
