It's kind of like home.

Tony didn't spend an overly large amount of time at the Avenger's mansion these days. Not if he could help it. This was a special occasion, though. Today, he was going to introduce the kid to their new teacher. He suspected that many of them knew of her already, but proper introductions were only polite. Besides, he wanted to make sure They all knew to give her the proper respect. Anyone who gave her issues would answer to him and his primary methods of discipline were pay cuts and firing... nobody wanted that.

He waited with Kitty in the main living room at the mansion and waited for the kids to gather.

Bruce got himself airborne as soon as they exited the Quinjet. He let loose a concentrated photonic blast into their ranks.

"We do not allow any of them guys to escape. No matter what, we hold the line. Don't let them touch you if you can help it, and do not be afraid to hit hard. These things are monsters, nothing more."

"Runecaster, I need a containment spell. Some kind of barrier around the crash site. Jay, Warbird, Nicky, we're going right into the heart of them. Everyone else, pick up anything we miss."

Jay jumped out of the Quinjet as soon as he possibly could. He pointed both hands at the disgusting-looking aliens. "Who wants some?"

It was mostly covering the span of time for the others to move before Jay was charging on big Hulky feet.

Roxie checked to make sure that shiny black helmet - with it's bright red plume - was situated perfectly on her head before she became airborne. A faint red glow surrounded her, and her black mace glinted in the light. It was clear that she was tapping into the Greek part of her heritage.

"This should be fun."

Nicky was so, so thankful that Bruce wasn't calling him by that dreaded Asgardian Angel name.

His bright red cape fluttered behind him he deported off of the Quinjet.

"So, peaceful negotiations with these ungentlemen are a no go, I take it?" Nicky asked. "I understand." And he did. He just wished that the bad guys weren't always trying to wreak havoc.

Erin is coming in fast. For her anyways.

"Cap," she calls over her communicator. "Think a water sheath around me would keep them from....touching?"

She is more than glad to act as support and is already trying to grab and throw one of the Dire Wraiths with her water tentacle.

Vincent bites back an argument. He wants to throw himself into the fight on the front lines. He wants to make someone else hurt for right now.

But he just nods. "Yes, Captain." He flies into position over the approximate center of the ongoing disaster and begins to cast. Blue light explodes out from one hand, creeping through the air as it forms a dome around the area, boring into the ground when it reaches it, completing a sphere. It's not something he'll be able to maintain forever, but it's very thorough.

Marcus was armored already when he stepped out of the Jet, but he had to take a moment to summon Aether then. Some folks felt that a flying horse was too much inside a transport and, oddly enough, the horse agreed.

Once he was mounted up, Marcus took to the air and circled the perimeter of the containment field to go after any stragglers that Jay and the others knocked loose.

Dire Wraiths were rampaging all over the park, chasing down innocent civilians and screeching about needing more. Their barbed tongues lashing the air for a taste of sweet, sweet memory. A pack scattered at Bruce's photonic blast. Several others away from the scattering cluster turned as one and charged toward the assembled Avengers.

A couple Dire Wraiths run into Vincent's barrier. They bounce off and shake their heads at the sudden stop. They quickly confer with each other and started their own spell to suck out the energy of the magical barrier.

Bruce shouted a brief affirmative to Erin, before diving into the fray, slamming a solar-charged punch into the closest Dire Wraith.

He got on the comm system back to the Mansion. "Jarvis? Ms. Pryde-Wisdom? Anyone picking up any signs of Iron Man?"

Jay went bounding into the Dire Wraiths willy nilly. He was not an elegant fighter when he was a giant muscle bound brick, but he certainly was a joyous one as he grinned and punched pink, squishy things in the face.

"There be safety in numbers, and I am two or three at least," he called out to his teammates. Just so someone covered his back so one of this tentacle things did not try bouncing off a butt cheek or something.

Erin keeps the water sheath up and tries to grab one of Dire Wraiths to throw them away from any innocent by standers. Right now she's not close enough to 'team up' with anyone and is thinking more along the lines of just general crowd control.

An angry red glow surrounds Roxie's mace as she whirls around in the air, twirling this way and that in a dance of death as she takes down Dire Wraith after Dire Wraith.

Backing her up is Nicky, his Uru Axe glinting brightly, the light to Roxie's darkness. They work in tandem, back to back, children of gods, trying to protect their world.

Vincent clenched his jaw as the Wraiths began to consume his work. There are a number of ways he could alter the pattern of the shield, but something from his erstwhile mentor seems a bit more practical at the moment.

Repulsor blast, full power.

Marcus didn't have Jay's mobility, even on Aether, but he did his best to make sure none of the Wraiths came up on his friend from behind. What worried him more than anything was the static that answered Bruce's call to the mansion. Either something here was jamming their connection... or there was no one home. Neither option was a pleasant one.

There was no answer to Bruce's call over the comm from Kitty. Maybe something very troubling had happened. Or then again, maybe not.

There was, however, another Dire Wraith attempting to strike the back of Bruce with its pinchers as the Avenger was occupied with his comm call. If the strike was successful, Bruce would feel a jolt, as if he had been hit by electricity.

Dammit! The jolt hit Bruce hard, though not as hard as if he wasn't semi-invulnerable. He hit the ground, knocked to his knees.

Got distracted. Dammit...

Erin finds herself having what amounts to a slap fight with a Dire Wraith. They fight back and fourth in the street and Erin is suddenly very glad the water sheath is protecting her from them.

Dire Wraiths were being tossed around left and right wherever the jolly green giant touched down. A few finally got together enough to begin some spellwork to slow him down, the ground at his feet suddenly becoming soft. Hands of clay emerged, wrapping around the hulk's feet, ankles, and calves. Not far behind him, Aether was kicking and struggling against more grabbing hands while Marcus swung his sword at them from the saddle.

The Wraith Erin was trading slaps with charged at her, herding her backwards where a pair of Wraiths were chanting a spell to superheat the air around her and evaporate the water sheath.

Since Nicky and Roxie made such a convenient tandem target, while they were concentrating on their physical abilities, a bolt of mystical energy shot toward them courtesy of another small group of Wraiths.

Vincent's repulsor blasts knock several of the Wraiths to the ground. As they rise, the chanting changes and the Wraiths respond with a blast of mystic energy intended to knock the human from the battle.

Jay cussed and fought against the ground instead of brain-sucking Wraiths. Stupid magic-users! They don't fight with the hitting all the time. He tried to pull his feet out to softer ground with an occasional arm flail.

He was just starting to make headway against the pull down when he heard Aether struggling against dirt hands. It took no thought on the hulk's part. He used his massive arms to smash the hands trying to grab the winged horse's feet. "And then Jay will disrupt them with his slappy hands! Yes, speak more of this evil-smashing duo!"

"Hnngh!" That blast hurt! And Nicky hadn't been expecting it.

He started a freefall down from where he was hovering in the air.

The red glow around Roxie intensified as the bolt of magic hit her. It shook off a good bit of the blast's intensity, but it still shook Roxie a little bit.

Her eyes started glowing in anger. Magic. She wasn't trained in any of it, but she had some limited scope for the stuff, given her Olympic heritage. She whirled around with her mace, careful not to hit Nicky.

"This. Means. War!" she yelled, grabbing Nicky by the edge of his bright red cape and flying straight for the Dire Wraiths.

"Shit.... shit.... shit!"

Erin is getting pushes back by the Dire Wraith. She can feel the heat so she starts to pull water from the snow because she has to get away fast.

She launches herself up and over the Dire Wraith with water and lands stumbling. "I'm in trouble here! They're using heat!"

The mud hands were little match for the power of slappy hands, apparently. As soon as the hands were squashed down, Aether took to the air to get out of their range.

"We need someone with a little more lifting ability than I have to help get Jay out of this mire." Marcus called over the comms. In the meantime, he slipped out of the saddle and dropped down onto Jay's back, hanging on with one arm while his sword sliced at some of the hands grabbing his squire's legs.

Bruce forced himself to spin around, blasting the Wraith in the face.

"We've gotta do something more..." he growled to himself. "Runecaster! We need a portal to Limbo! The rest of you, start herding them toward it!"
