What year is it? (Open to whichever team finds him first)
The trip wasn't what he had expected, but then again James wasn't sure what he had expected when he had stepped through the portal. To him, it should have been more instantaneous, but it was proving to be annoyingly long and he wondered if his sister was going through the same thing. Whether she was or wasn't, he was going to have to do something to end the trip, but throwing energy around didn't seem like the best of plans. Perhaps focusing his thoughts on a particular location?
Closing his eyes, James focused his thoughts on getting to past, which wasn't really doing anything but he didn't know that. Coincidentally, his trip ended abruptly as he shot out of a hole and rolled across the pavement, and his training quickly kicked in as he recovered during the roll and came up in a crouch with his gun aimed at the nearest person. Scanning his surroundings, he took note of the fact that there was no one going to war with one another, which seemed like a good thing.
Of course, he didn't recognize any of the structures, so he had no way of knowing where he was at. "Okay! One of you tell me where I am and what year is it?" His words were said as he waved the gun around like he was using it to point at someone in the crowd. Naturally, no one else knew that.

"Gomen nasai," She stepped between him and the crowd. Alistaire would probably not aprove of this, but as a doctor it was her job to save lives first. If she could prevent the gun from being fired great. "You may not wish to wave that around sir." She remembered his question. "2012, you're in New York." She glanced about, cops were moving in.
"I suggest you don't run, and put down the weapon, the cops will not take lightly to that sort of commotion." She held her hands out to show she wasn't a threat, hoping to diffuse the problem before there really was one.

Then a woman came up and answered his question, and things got even more confusing for him. One year and the world looked like this? Either she was lying or his trip had an unexpected detour. Either way, he needed to find someone who could give him a better clue as to what had happened to him.
"Look lady, I'm not here looking for a fight if I can help it. Matter of fact, I don't know how I ended up here. I was shooting for decades into the past," said James as he lowered his weapon.

"Time traveler? Thought they used a car or blue box." Hey! Her Western pop culture was getting better at least.
no subject
"Don't know about using a car. I jumped through a portal to get here, but things aren't making a lot of sense. If I jumped back as far as you say, then the world shouldn't look like this. It should look..." It should look more like the ruins from a war.
no subject
"How should New York look? I know occasionally blocks get destroyed, sometimes by the different groups hashing it out, but..." She frowned, could it be part of the reason he felt weird when she did touch him. Reiko shrugged it off for the time being. "Where were you trying to get?" She'd ignore the when for now.
no subject
"Honestly, it should look like a war had gone here. A war that we lost," he said as he leaned back against the wall. Where had the portal taken him if not into the past where he could have done some good. "My target was New York City, but about a few decades earlier than this one."
no subject
"I can not think of a war that happened here recently. Though I am a current transplant here." She was glad she was't slipping into Engrish. Would you have a problem if I called my host? He would know more about the city to assist you better. That is when he's done complaining that I slipped my bodyguard again." Not that she really needed one, Reiko was more than capable to handle a street thug after her childhood.

"Make the call," he stated quickly. At the moment, he didn't have any qualms about where the information was coming from just so long as it was coming. His sister was still lost somewhere and his people were dying, or theoretically they were living their lives without him.
Either way, he had ot know.

"Alistaire," She glanced at James a moment and switched to Japanese. "Could you come get me and a visitor. We're in Times Square and I don't think it would be a good idea to just walk back to the penthouse."
no subject
"So what does your host do for a living," asked James as he stared at the woman. What was even more interesting was the fact he knew nothing about the girl except that she wasn't from the States, and he wondered why he was so calm about that.
no subject
"What's the occasion for the company?"
no subject
To Alistaire she spoke calmly. "He just appeared here, says he's from the future I figure we can help him figure out whomever he was looking for." Her intentions are honest at least.
Tho both in English she added, "We should get moving before the police decide to check all the alleys."
no subject
"Agreed," stated James. "Where is our rendezvous point?"

Less than a minute later, at Reiko's location, a young man and woman in their late 20's appeared in non-descript uniforms. Before Reiko or the new asset could interrupt, they slipped oxygen masks over their faces, then scooped them up. Another scant time later, and they were deposited in front of the building Alistaire was in at the moment.
"Delivered, as contracted." One of them spoke into a phone, before the pair vanished again.
"You can come up to the penthouse now." Alistaire's voice came over Reiko's phone, as building security was already converging to escort them.

She didn't look like the kind of person who could fight, but the way she held herself hinted looks could be deceiving, even if she seemed relaxed.

"Where I'm from being dramatic is a good way of being dead, but don't worry. I don't plan on shooting your host," he said while shouldering the rifle. Of course, what was planned and what actually happened wasn't always that similar.
no subject
"I'm sorry for any discomfort. You wouldn't have been able to breathe without the respirators at the speed you were moving." He stays in his chair, fingers steepled in front of him. "So, you claim you're from the future, mister...?"
no subject
"Still say it was pretty dramatic Alistaire. The car would have been fine. I carry enough smokers on me to distract the cops for a few hours." She brushed her hair back a little fixing the loose knot it had been done in.
no subject
"Please call me 'James', and I am from the future. Although, I'm beginning to doubt that it is yours," said James. Something had to have gone wrong with the machine when he entered the portal. It was the only answer that he could think of.

"If it helps you at ease James, I am Reiko Tawakawa." She shifted a little to get comfortable. And Sensei's bark isn't as bad as his bite," She may have messed up the language there a little, oops.

Figuring that he would have to give some information, he chose to only answer the latter questions. "I was in Victor Von Doom's castle a year from now when I jumped through a portal after my sister, and we were shooting for two different locations in the same year. It was supposed to be around twenty-four years ago."
no subject
"And why go to all that trouble? Only the very wise or very mad have dealings with Von Doom."
no subject
"You said that New York was a war zone earlier, can you elaborate?" If she could try to save lives she would, it's her way to blot out some of the blood on her hands, Alistaire might have other plans but she would not allow senseless carnage if she could help it.
no subject
"Fortunately for my team and I, the good doctor wasn't home and hadn't been for quite some time." Although, it might have made things a lot easier on all of them because they could have just had Doom build a new machine in a safer environment.
"I was born during the middle of an invasion by the Skrull race that had been going on for years, and things were looking pretty desperate for those of us that were still alive. The plan was to send a few of us back in time to warn people on Earth and Shi'ar Empire of the invasion, but something obviously went wrong for me."

Soo sorry I lost the tag!
"Then we have to hope the others made it. I am sorry that I was unable to bring you to someone who can help." She looked down.
She glanced up at them both. "I still wish to help if I can. There has to be others that might know how to get you to where you need to be."
Re: Soo sorry I lost the tag!
"So who would one turn to in such a crisis," he asked. The displaced gunmen highly doubted that there were many who could address his current problem, but then again this wasn't his world so what did he know anyway?
Re: Soo sorry I lost the tag!
I can offer you a place to stay, and a chance to earn your keep, in the meantime. I can always use resourceful people on my staff, and you seem like you qualify." He sits up and starts typing on a tablet. "First priority is finding out how closely this Earth and this timeline aligns with your own." He works out about two dozen questions, ranging from the trivial to the broad. "Here, answer these the best you can."
Because if he can know which wars or stocks to invest in, along with who might be worth saving from a horrible death, that's just good business.
