Attack on Xavier's ((Open to All X-ers on Campus))
Class had only been in session for a couple days at Xavier's. Labor Day had come and gone. There were more students on campus than in previous semesters. The buzz from first day jitters had settled down. Routines were starting to be picked up. It was currently the small span of time between the end of classes for the day and the beginning of after-school activities.
A mile from the main house, a very determined man wearing purple and dark blue was setting up. He took note of various things like the range to the target, wind direction, wind velocity, air density, elevation, and the Coriolis effect. As well as the effect the window he was going to shoot through would have on his very special bullet. He peered through his scope. This would be an extremely tricky shot, but the entire operation was waiting on him to start it. He needed to take out the biggest problem on that campus. The new construction getting into his way didn't help matters.
He eventually lined up a clear shot and waited. He caught a flash of red in the window. The target must have been sitting at her desk. The sniper grinned slightly to himself. He took in a breath, let it half out, and then squeezed the trigger.
The one-of-a-kind bullet made of non-magnetic material blasted out of the barrel of the sniper rifle. His aim was dead on. He quickly tapped the signal to have the first ones launch their attack.
The walls along Graymalkin Lane were breached explosively in multiple places. Most near security nodes to delay the time the security system roused. Men and women in black tabards with white crosses poured through the openings. They ran toward the buildings and any visible muties on the grounds. They all had been itching for some action since the debacle at Veridian Dynamics. Being underground for this long made the need for mutie blood strong among the Purifiers.

It didn't break skin, but a very angry bruise would blossom there soon.
Topher pulled in more of the negative energy around him, strengthening his reserves. He wasn't sure how much longer he could realistically keep this up for. His body still needed a few minutes to convert the negativity into his array of superpowers.
With a yell, he lashed out with the bat again. He wanted to knock the gun out of the Purifier's hand.

The gun went flying off into the distance. The Purifier howled in pain as his fingers near the trigger shattered from the force of the gun being knocked away.

"This mutie's taken down so many of your friends already. Wanna hedge your bets, boys?"

Josie had thrown herself into the fray as soon as shots started being fired. With as much raw emotion being flung around on both sides of the conflict, she had more than enough psionic energy to pull from for her constructs. Some of the energies ticked away with the regularity of a metronome (zealots, just about incapable of stringing together thoughts besides what they'd been trained to think), some of them shrieked and pulled to and fro like a violin on fire (students, running for their lives), some of them had a low sharp ripple like a snare drum (experienced X-Men, fighting back with vigor, even as it always seemed so sadly familiar to them as well). She scarcely even had time to 'look' at her next power source, as she formed a sphere of hardened energy in one hand and a sling in the other. She whipped it around her head once and then let the bullet fly at a duo of Purifiers who apparently had one of the other students cornered.
The bullet, instead of knocking one of them off their feet as it should have, exploded in a rainbow of blinding light. The impact was still there, no question, but it... that just wasn't something that happened!
The energy had come from him. She stared at the other student for a half-second, before making a shield (from someone else's thoughts this time) to deflect an incoming spray of bullets. "What's wrong with your brain?!" was what she managed to blurt out.

This wasn't the time for bringing that up, though.
"Good job," he said, jutting his chin in the direction of the Purifiers. "C'mon. We gotta get the other kids to safety before anything worse happens."

She conjures another piece of ammunition from Topher's mental energy, and lobs it across the lawn at another Purifier. Just like before, it explodes when it should have just clobbered. "My power doesn't normally DO that!" She points, before following him.
