Attack on Xavier's ((Open to All X-ers on Campus))

Class had only been in session for a couple days at Xavier's. Labor Day had come and gone. There were more students on campus than in previous semesters. The buzz from first day jitters had settled down. Routines were starting to be picked up. It was currently the small span of time between the end of classes for the day and the beginning of after-school activities.

A mile from the main house, a very determined man wearing purple and dark blue was setting up. He took note of various things like the range to the target, wind direction, wind velocity, air density, elevation, and the Coriolis effect. As well as the effect the window he was going to shoot through would have on his very special bullet. He peered through his scope. This would be an extremely tricky shot, but the entire operation was waiting on him to start it. He needed to take out the biggest problem on that campus. The new construction getting into his way didn't help matters.

He eventually lined up a clear shot and waited. He caught a flash of red in the window. The target must have been sitting at her desk. The sniper grinned slightly to himself. He took in a breath, let it half out, and then squeezed the trigger.
The one-of-a-kind bullet made of non-magnetic material blasted out of the barrel of the sniper rifle. His aim was dead on. He quickly tapped the signal to have the first ones launch their attack.

The walls along Graymalkin Lane were breached explosively in multiple places. Most near security nodes to delay the time the security system roused. Men and women in black tabards with white crosses poured through the openings. They ran toward the buildings and any visible muties on the grounds. They all had been itching for some action since the debacle at Veridian Dynamics. Being underground for this long made the need for mutie blood strong among the Purifiers.

Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix - commonly known as Monet, less commonly but more economically known as M - frowned darkly. Right now, she could have been luxuriating on a beach in Thailand or Bali, having something delicious and alcoholic, reading something trashy and low-brow.

Instead, she'd returned to the fold at Rachel's behest to help out with some students.

And deal with things like this, apparently.

She had been helping to herd the students to safety when she heard the commotion and panic coming from outside. When she'd gone to check, she'd seen that little stunt show in the sky.

Disappointment gave way to anger. It was unfair for the kids to have to go through this much in so short a time. It really was.

Darting out the window, Monet let out an angry yell, wishing for a moment that her set of perfect powers included a sonic scream like her friend Siryn's.

She did, though, let loose with a flurry of telepathic bombs, a skill she'd learned a little from Betsy Braddock.

One of the Prime Sentinels plummeted out of the sky when the telepathic bombs exploded in her mind. She hit the ground with a bone-jarring thud.

Though once one of the Prime Sentinels was down, the others seemed less affected by Monet's telepathic attacks.

Okay, they adapted. They learned. They moved forward.

Mind games wouldn't work? Fine.

That's why she had muscle, too. Monet could just as easily be a flying bullet as she could anything else.

She shot after one of the closest Prime Sentinels, arms outstretched. She'd smash into it and take it down.

The Prime Sentinel turned to face M and got knocked across the lawn for his effort. He tumbled end over end in the air until he hit the firmament. He got buried in the furrow he made across the ground.

If there was one thing that Lorna Summers had learned early on, it was that she always needed to keep metal on her. Given that her father was widely known, people who came to attack mutants usually came prepared to fight against him.

That meant no metal.

It was for this reason that Lorna always wore a few rings, bracelets, and earrings made of metal that she could magnetically manipulate. The same went for the belt and tiara she either always wore or had on hand.

She knew that with the Prime Sentinels, she had one chance to make a really good attack before they'd find some way to circumvent her special abilities.

Flying out next to Monet, she gave the other mutant a nod, before speeding up. She was going to go after as many Primies as she could on her own before she had to resort to her own personal arsenal of metal.

Polaris's magnetic abilities were unimpeded as she reached out to the nearest sentinels. Though one of them felt to have more metal accessible than the others. Possibly an earlier attempt at becoming a human Sentinel.

Lorna yanked on that metal, pulling it apart, forcing that sentinel to lose all of his or her equipment. Then she turned it against them in the form of a battering ram, reshaping the metal and slamming it into the enemy.

The Prime Sentinel was not ready for her cybernetic implants to fall apart internally. Nor having her armor ripped from her body. The formerly heavily armored being coughed up blood and fell to the ground a currently useless bag of meat.

The other Sentinels nearby shot force blasts at Polaris as they tried to pummel her from a distance. Some of them got pummeled by a battering ram for trying.

"Sentinels," Kurt said. "Of course. If it weren't for schadenfreude, I sometimes wonder if we'd have anything at all."

Of course, that wasn't true. He had a wonderful wife, a lovely daughter, and a goof life teaching new students. Perhaps his reflexes were starting to slow and he'd lost just a little of his bounce, but he was still a fit man.

Prime Sentinels having a human component made them more powerful in some respects, but weaker in others. There were joints and other points he could strike, as he teleported between them.

Nightcrawler's attacks were initially very effective. Though some who went down were able to rise. Albeit slowly. As the bamfs kept coming, the Prime Sentinels started adapting.

Some tried anticipating where he would appear with force blasts sent in that direction.

He was definitely getting too old for this sort of thing. He was possessed of vitality far beyond normal people, but even he had his limits. It had been longer than he'd care to admit since he was actively in the field.

Combined with the adaptation, it didn't take much for a force blast to wing him.

"Argh!"

The Sentinel that had hit Nightcrawler tried to press his advantage. He came straight for the blue, fuzzy teacher with a volley of force blasts sent in front of him.

Fortunately, Kurt still had most of his wits about him, channeling that into teleporting behind the Sentinel and striking out.

The Prime Sentinel had started to turn around when Nightcrawler disappeared in a puff of brimstone in front of him. His reactions, while optimal from his implants, weren't quite quick enough to prevent a faceful of foot.

The Sentinel grunted in surprise and staggered back.

Kurt quickly followed it up with a series of quick and dirty strikes to pressure points and joints.

Franklin Richards | "Our History Teacher"

[personal profile] firstbornrichards 2015-02-26 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Franklin had been assisting the others with herding students to safety when he'd seen that Prime Sentinels were descending upon the school. He immediately teleported outside, collapsing mass into energy, which was directed outwards into a large wave of light and heat, directed at the Prime Sentinels in a wide arc.

He was not going to allow these fiends to harm his students. They had exams, and they would write them in peace.

'Our History Teacher' knocked the Sentinels through a loop. Some went down, others fell to a knee, and one managed to stay on his feet. He glared balefully at Mr. Richards as he yanked his feet out of the lawn.

Southern hospitality did not extend to Sentinels.

That was a certainty as Rogue flew out of the back of the mansion. She did it mainly to check on any of the students who were out of their senses their good mamas gave them. The longer route also meant she could pick up plenty of steam to go right after one of those humans in a Sentinel suit.

Rogue was flying at nearly 700 mph when she hit an overly large fella with her fists extended in front of her.

Hana Blaire | Eclipse

[personal profile] shadeblossom 2015-03-02 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hana had first taken time to make sure her boys and Emily were safely stashed in the bunkers under the school. Once they were safe, she returned to the surface to find the Purifiers scattering like rats. She was almost disappointed, before shadows feel over the grounds.

Shadows. Perfect. She grinned and slipped into the shadows, running at the nearest Sentinel, pulling its own shadow tight around, trying to topple it to the ground.

The Prime Sentinel was not ready for his own shadow to be used against him. He yelped and flailed his arms before falling over to the ground.

Danielle Moonstar | Moonstar

[personal profile] demonbearslayer 2015-03-03 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Dani came running out of the main building just in time to see the Prime Sentinels descend. She pulled a compound bow from the holster across her back and let loose with a volley of psi-arrows at the Sentinels, then ran for cover - away from the building full of students - and prepared another barrage.

Moonstar's arrows hit home. One of the Sentinels hit the ground with a nice thud. A couple more were staggered. One that didn't have an arrow fired at it flew after Moonstar with force blasts firing.
