Aramis sat in meditation in the rec room. It was not the most quiet room in the school to do that, but he found the hustle of the other people to give a flow to his inner peace.

Though he did crack one eye open at the reports showing up on the television. He shook his head sadly. "True gold fears not the test of fire."

Aiden wrinkled his nose as he kept flipping the channels. Dumb news and it's slanted commentary. Maybe he could find an episode of Phineas and Ferb he hadn't seen yet.

"I didn't get to punch Magneta in the nose. Bah. Sara needs to find us another mission outside of protecting the Wienie Hut from the FoH."

Angel curled up next to him, holding him tight. "Dad-blasted bunch of crazies, the whole lot of 'em..."

He slung his arm around Angel and gave her a small squeeze. "The Magneta people or the talking heads on TV. I don't think any of them wear pants."

He gave Angel a small grin. Whichever ones he meant were up to her.

Aiden always could make her smile.

"You might be right about that, Sugah."

A sigh. "Ah just know the FoH chapter's gonna have a field day with this."

"No pants is a distraction. I know. You said you can't study when I don't have any on." He was trying to keep it light. Dwelling on it when they did not have it around them in the base would do neither of them any good.

He placed a soft kiss on the tip of her ear. "They bother you, let me know. We'll team up for invisible making their clubhouse stink."

Angel chuckled. "Couldn't be any worse than those PETA people from last week and their whole "fur is murder" thing."

"Did you kick them in the asparagus?" They were vegetarians, right? They lost human fat and filled up with vegetables or something. Aiden shook his head a bit to get himself back to reality.

"I like my fur naked. And occasionally fluffy..."

"Almost did," Angel said. "Bamfed out of the way of the paint just in time."

She ran a finger up and down his chest. "Would that have anything to do with why mah towels always go missin'?"

"Maybe I should find these paint-throwers and release a hundred gerbils where it would be most inconvenient..." His eyes narrowed as he tried to plot out how to move 100 gerbils stealthily.

Though his machinations got a little monkey wrenched by his sexy fiancée using her finger to distraction. He shifted a bit on the couch and tried to look innocent. "Missing towels?"

"Don't reckon that'll be needed, Sugah. They were apologizin' enough."

She fixed him with a half-playful gaze. "Yes. Seems every time Ah take a shower, mah towels go missin'. And when Ah blow dry, Ah get all fluffy."

"Drat." Not that he sounded put out that his diabolical gerbil plan was quashed. Though he did try to keep up the pretense of looking innocent.

"I find fluffy sexy? So it all works out."

That look did not work on her. But she could pretend it did.

It was hard to argue with that logic, though. "You do have a point, Sugah."

"Well you are very good at making me pointy. Possibly the best there is." He waggled his eyebrows at Angel. Not that his pants were pointy yet. He did try to tamp down on that impulse after being told clearly by one roommate that the security videos that cover most of the base were reviewed.

Angel ran her tongue over her lips. "Ah am, aren't Ah?" she asked. "What say we go see about doin' some more of that?"

Mission: Distract Angel From Bad News was a rousing success.

"I'm always up for that," he assured earnestly. He brushed his fingertips of one hand across her shoulder while the other used the remote to turn the television off.

Vesper caught the chunks of news as he flew above the rooftops. He ignored it mostly. Mutants did not bother him one way or the other. Mostly not as they weren't the thugs he was cleaning off the streets.

He did a wide turn around a skyrise to head toward the New York Harbor. He'd overheard a tip about a shipment of drugs coming in...

Her Mother is going to freak out. She really hopes that Mutant Registration doesn't become a thing. She'd like that to stay her business.

"Dammit..." Bruce growled, glaring at the television.

"We gotta head some of this off..."

Remi leaned against the door frame to the team rec room. Alexa's edict on him not touching "delicate" technology at least let him stand across the room from that breakable television and remote control.

He frowned at the news. That was not good news for him...

... or the baby Alexa was carrying.

"Mom I'm okay really." Bobbi had gotten the phone call about the same moment the news broadcast went on. Sitting on her bed she sighed kicking her feet on the edge of it. "No Mother, I wasn't involved in it. Mom... Hey Momma... Mom listen! You don't need to come out here and I'm not going to run home. Ugh, please don't tell me you're in favor of it. I know I can be dangerous if having a tantrum, but really..." Was no good her mother was ranting and raving. Bobbi spread her wings out before she fell back on her bed glancing at the phone when it went dead. Oops, guess it couldn't handle the cold.
