One mini Icecube with a side order of oops. [open]
Bobbi scowled as she knelt helping one of her friends pick up their books. “Alex you have to be such a jerk?” She handed the books over to the girl he had tripped, who was pushing her glasses up so she could see.
“Bobbi, don’t, you’ll get into trouble if you’re in another fight. It’s alright I’m used to it by now.” She did accept her books though.
“Aw what’s wrong Bobbi, gonna let the geek tell you what to do?”
“Considering she’s been helping me get used to the school, yeah I’ll let her.” She glared at the older student putting an arm around her friend. “Come on, let’s go. We’ll be late for class if we stay here, I can’t afford another tardy.” Their way towards the English room was blocked by his friends. Bobbi glanced around, the other students were forming a ring around them, the chant of fight already starting. The fourteen year old gave a small frown. “Anna stay behind me okay?” She was used to getting bumps and bruises from the soccer field at least. If he was really going to take a swing she preferred it to be her that got hit and not Anna.
Al’s fist hit the locker by her head making her flinch slightly as he grinned. “All that bravado and you’re still shaking aren’t you?” He laughed stepping back.
Bobbi closed her eyes growling a moment, the air around her started to cool down as she pushed him away from her. He yelped, her small hands actually cold enough to burn him even through his shirt. “I’m not scared of you.” Her words were as cold as her hands, making his buddies back up as if scared of the pint sized teen. She stormed past him, the air still cooling. There was the sound of something above the gathered students cracking. Looking up all the sprinklers had icicles forming. The young blond bolted as soon as she was away from everyone, feeling like she needed space.
Once outside in the California sun she bolted across the yard planning on making it home before anything else happened. She wasn't sure what was going on, but had a feeling the cracking noises she had heard were because of her.

"She is definitely Xavier's material. May we come in and talk to you about our school and the educational programs we can offer to your daughter?"

Bobbi grabbed the grocery bag. Spared a lecture on skipping class at least. "Okay, this the only bag?"
"Two others on the counter already." When Bobbi left she looked at the pair again. "Come on in. I'm sorry about being cautious, she's our little angel after all."
no subject
He didn't read any deception into her words or body language, so that was good.
"But Bobbi's scores are quite good," he said. "And Xaiver's offers a very respectable educational experience."
no subject
"Perfectly understandable, Mrs. Angelus."

Bobbi bounced into the living room with an ice pop in hand.

But with what Rachel had said, it was the little clue he needed to better piece everything else together. The body language... a little too precise. The whole of the language the woman encompassed... too perfect. And if there was one thing Doug understood...
She's a robot, he communicated to Rachel.
What had they gotten themselves into?

"Xavier's always keeps an eye out for people we think can be the best and brightest under our tutelage," Rachel explained as she settled easily onto the couch. As her powers activated at the speed of thought, she was slightly cautious but nowhere near on edge.
"Your daughter is a perfect candidate." The redhead drew a pamphlet out of her purse.

Bobbi was staying quiet trying to figure out what her mom was thinking. "Can we at least try it for the spring session? And if I don't like it I come back?" Yep, she's putting those baby blues of hers to work, because really, going across the country or to the same old summer camp that is boring as all hell, she'll take adventure thanks. "Just think you wouldn't have me complaining about being bored for a few months."
no subject
All, technically true.
"Our spring session just started, but we have little doubt Bobbi would be able to catch up very easily."
no subject
"We can help with the moving expenses. If that's a concern. We also have state of the art communications systems for students to keep in touch with their parents."
no subject
Bobbi nodded sitting up a little straighter nodding.
"Is there a place the two of you are staying while in town? That way we can call you to tell you what's decided?"
no subject
Don't like leaving like this...

Thinking one thing and acting another was one of Rachel's fortes. "Also, if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to call us."

Bobbi glanced at the card a moment before her mother hid it from her. Before Alice could say more the phone rang. She went to get it leaving the young girl with the pair.
"Pretty sure Dad'll let me leave. Mom's usually the harder sell."
no subject
He nodded in response to Bobbi, putting on a smile. "Good to know," he said. "And if not, well, we can be very convincing."
no subject
"I think going to Xavier's will be a very interesting experience for you."
no subject
She looked at Rachel then over to Doug. "I'm hoping so. Mom and Dad hide some things from me... Like my wings, I'd like to know why I have them and why when I get agitated I'm a danger. I want to be able to control it better than just removing myself from the situation." She was keeping her voice down a little as she spoke. "They'll be able to help me with that right?"
no subject
He kept his voice at a whisper. "They will," he told her. "We have some of the best people who know all about this kind of thing at the school, and other resources we can call on besides."
no subject
"You'll have all the help you need."
no subject
"I have a feeling it won't be the only thing they talk about tonight. Sounds like I'm not the only one who left school early too. If my parents don't call by eight I'll call when I get to my room to tell you."

She placed a hand on her husband's arm. "And don't worry. You won't need to leave Xavier's. If you freeze something, we have people around to thaw things out."
no subject
"No one will get really mad at me for it?" She really didn't want enemies. She had enough of them on a soccer field.
"Bobbi, just what did you do in the school today?"
And here the young girl sheepishly looks at the floor.

He paused, when her "mother" cut in. This... could be difficult.
