Marcelo Alencar da Silva had been in surgery for a few hours. He had been completely unaware of law enforcement locking down the city block his building was on. He had not been aware of much outside of trying to stay awake until some doctor like person told him it was okay to sleep.

The doctors had worked hard. As precisely as the sword had been impaled into their patient, they had to be just as precise to make sure he did not bleed out all over the operating table. Those doctors lived and worked in New York, home of the Avengers and Fantastic Four. Yet, they were never quite prepared for people stabbed with swords.

Even with a very close call, the Brazilian patient was rolled out to recovery. As the nurses and doctors monitored him, the surgeon went out to explain to his fiancee how things went. When the medical personnel were sure he was stable enough, he was sent to his own private room and allowed to have visitors.
Rachel was in the middle of remodeling what was now her office. Xavier has finished up the semester and given her the office as hers. Though she currently had no clue how to decorate it. So things were looking a little bare with her desk and two chairs across from it for adornment.

She had plans for the estate on her desk. She sat in her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose. There were pages of the requirements for a being a certified school scattered on the floor behind her. She had posted about her open office before the summer semester began.

The redhead didn't know if having visitors would be a blessing or not.
Stephanie Shaw had been an extremely busy woman lately, between her engagement to Marcelo, her reintroduction into the halls of power at Shaw Industries and the newfound reemergence of the Hellfire Club, her summer had not been much of the break that most students could expect. It was fortunate indeed that she had only a fraction of the sleep requirements of an ordinary person. But she had been extremely troubled about the most recent news she'd heard. The same psychopath who had brutalized her had somehow got ahold of her list of mutant-friendly employers and had already murdered one of them. She suspected that he would continue working up the list. She'd already alerted Marcelo and had almost immediately thereafter gone to Sweating Bullets as fast as she could.

There were a few things she needed to speak to Viveca about. One was an immediate matter of life and death, the other merely a potential matter of life and death. Both very important and not particularly good news. She'd fired off a text to Viveca on her way, the driver being under directions not to waste time.

I need to talk to you immediately. Urgent.

Hopefully Viveca got the text before Stephanie arrived, though it wouldn't matter much. She was going in there, and if she had to tell her the news with a customer in the room, she'd do it. Confidentiality was ideal, naturally, but it was more important that Viveca know than that others didn't. She couldn't claim they were close, exactly, but they'd developed a mutual respect that had occasionally threatened to bubble over into actual friendship.

It would be interesting finding out how Viveca took the newest developments.
Luíz Adriano Alencar da Silva was visiting New York City once again. It had been a long time since his last visit, but this visit was a bit more personal than business. He hadn't seen his son in awhile, and there were things he needed to look into about his son. Particularly this woman he had been dating.

The flight in had been long, and though he was greeted warmly by his son, he was getting too old to spring right into action after a flight. Luíz begged off meeting Stephanie until he was more presentable.

Before a quick nap and exercises in the hotel's gym, Luíz used his pull and influence to get a nice, quiet table for three at Eleven Madison Park. He sent the time for Marcelo and his girlfriend to meet him and got ready.

He tried to be a little early, so he could watch how his son and his girlfriend interacted as they approached. Over two years with one woman was certainly a record for his son. That he had not proposed marriage was slightly worrying to the Brazilian father considering the last relationship before Marcelo left for the States. For now, Luíz needed to meet and learn.

Then he would start asking questions.

Alisa groaned as she finally came to. She was out of her tactical suit and in a hospital gown, a sign she was in a medical facility, no doubt. She hissed as she tried to sit herself up, feeling some stitches in her side from where she was stabbed starting to tug just slightly. She also noted a lack of feeling in her right leg, right below the knee. She threw her blankets off, noting her leg was in a cast, and there were some scars on her right thigh as well. This just made her frown, before looking around the room and seeing Alisatire was in a bed next to her.

"Oh no... Boss. You did get injured!? I am so sorry... I shoulda done bettah, I failed you..."

New York City high society had been absolutely buzzing over this April's charity gala by a certain Mr. Tony Stark. It was seen as exclusive, or as exclusive as his 200 person guest list could be. Some invitations were a given, like Tony's daughter Alexa, whereas others came from what the party planners figured as the right people to make the party memorable or talked about.

The charity event was for the charitable arm of Stark Inc., Stark International. Despite being for charity, it was also seen as a good way for businesses to be seen and network.

The event was held at the Hudson in the Library and Private Park space. It would comfortably fit the people into its 2,600 Square Feet.
Alistaire had invited Stephanie out for lunch. The people he paid to keep him informed had brought some very interesting patterns in Shaw Industries' activities of late to his attention. If she was up to what he thought she was, he wanted to play in her sandbox.
