Attack on Xavier's ((Open to All X-ers on Campus))
Class had only been in session for a couple days at Xavier's. Labor Day had come and gone. There were more students on campus than in previous semesters. The buzz from first day jitters had settled down. Routines were starting to be picked up. It was currently the small span of time between the end of classes for the day and the beginning of after-school activities.
A mile from the main house, a very determined man wearing purple and dark blue was setting up. He took note of various things like the range to the target, wind direction, wind velocity, air density, elevation, and the Coriolis effect. As well as the effect the window he was going to shoot through would have on his very special bullet. He peered through his scope. This would be an extremely tricky shot, but the entire operation was waiting on him to start it. He needed to take out the biggest problem on that campus. The new construction getting into his way didn't help matters.
He eventually lined up a clear shot and waited. He caught a flash of red in the window. The target must have been sitting at her desk. The sniper grinned slightly to himself. He took in a breath, let it half out, and then squeezed the trigger.
The one-of-a-kind bullet made of non-magnetic material blasted out of the barrel of the sniper rifle. His aim was dead on. He quickly tapped the signal to have the first ones launch their attack.
The walls along Graymalkin Lane were breached explosively in multiple places. Most near security nodes to delay the time the security system roused. Men and women in black tabards with white crosses poured through the openings. They ran toward the buildings and any visible muties on the grounds. They all had been itching for some action since the debacle at Veridian Dynamics. Being underground for this long made the need for mutie blood strong among the Purifiers.

Whatever hit Rachel hit hard enough to launch her across the room and into one of the built-in bookshelves. Her body broke shelves and sent a cascade of books down on her body. She was momentarily knocked senseless and bleeding all over the place.

"Okay really, this is a school campus not a bad B-rated ninja flick set!" Subtlety, you are not in her genetic makeup. The winged girl dropped her water bottle using the water in it to ice up the floor around her before taking off up the stairs, she'd need some height.

Sadly, at the Institute, a day like any other generally involved something terrible happening to the school.
Generally, that was pretty much par for the course.
But this...this was bad.
Topher steeled himself, trying to throw as many shields as he could up so that all of the impending negativity didn't hit him hard.
He sprang into action. First thing's first. The youngest students needed to be led to safety. He'd do that first. Then, he'd go outside and see what the hell was going down.

Some with rifles took shots at whatever non-Purifier people they saw. Though they were shots on the run and not very accurate. Other Purifiers ran straight at students with vibranium weapons held ready to strike.

"Safe rooms, people!" she shouted. "It was in the flippin' orientation package!"
She vaulted down the stairs she had been on, eyes darting around, senses racing, as she searched for the nearest thing she could hit. Through the nearest window, she spotted them running up the lawn.
She made it out the nearest door and a Logan-family smile crossed her face. She was gonna enjoy this.

A glance out the window confirmed the worst.
Purifiers.
A shadow crossed over Brooke's eyes, but she raised her chin in defiance. Upset that they would think it proper to attack a school in this way, she headed for the doors.
Brooke may not have been the best hand-to-hand combatant at the Institute, but she was a damn fine empath, and she took crap from no one.
Especially not villains in questionable clothing with far less than noble intentions.

The explosions broke his meditations. He jumped to his feet and pulled his sai out of his sash. He gave them a test whirl and started in the opposite direction of the closest safe room.

"Sanders! Got a mutie heading our way! ..Looks like a freaking giant turtle."
"I don't care if it looks like Gamera! Shoot it!"
The two Purifiers opened fire at Athos.

Looking around at the other students that were running in panic, he figured that it would take them some time to get to safety, which meant that he needed to buy them that time.
"Alright, people. You know where you should be running to, and if you don't then follow the large group of people that do. I'm going to see if any one wants to learn to float," he said as he ran toward the nearest door that led outside.

"Suck on this mutie." He pulls the trigger, sending the projectile smashing through the door.

All it did was piss her off, really.
Kayla started making her way back to the school, but cautiously. There was cleraly trouble afoot.

Abandoning his wheelchair, Dolemeck got down on the floor and started to drag himself behind one of the many tall bookcases in the library. Just as someone stormed into the room.
no subject
One saw the empty wheelchair and shot it in case there was someone invisible in it.

The second he sees someone come through the opening in front of him, he shoves them with his mind, as hard as he can. He's fairly sure he just hurt whoever it was horribly but there's got to be more of them, and he loses his ability to focus when he realizes he needs to get to Dolemeck.
So in spite of the fact that he can barely find his way around here on a good day, he runs in what he's fairly sure is the direction of the library, heart pounding.

There were several between Ilya and the end point he was aiming for. One noticed the running teenager and shouted a warning to his fellow Purifiers as he raised his gun to shoot the boy.

She couldn't hear the initial explosions, but she certainly did hear and see the alarms.
Oh shit, did I do that? No, wait, I've been here a while, and didn't set anything off before...
She quickly shot up, trying to avoid anything that seemed important and electronic, and wound up in one of the main hallways on the ground floor. A group of panicked students ran right through her.
Whoa.
Now she could hear the explosions, gunshots, and general chaos outside. She flew through the walls and immediately saw an armored figure aiming at a terrified student trying to take cover behind the fountain in the front oval. She didn't know what to do... she didn't know that she could do anything, but she had to try. In the blink of an eye, she was hovering in front of the armored figure, wrapping ghostly arms around him.

Leaning back out from under the hood and lighting a cigarette, Brody turned from his truck to grab the bag he'd been keeping the new plugs in.

One of them - what would have ordinarily been a very lovely woman in her mid-twenties - smiled nastily at him.
That's when the bullets started flying.

"Consider yourself lucky," said the burly one, before taking a swing at Brianna.

Cybernetically-enhanced, tougher than the cannonfodder sent in ahead of them, Prime Sentinels descended on the campus.

Instead, she'd returned to the fold at Rachel's behest to help out with some students.
And deal with things like this, apparently.
She had been helping to herd the students to safety when she heard the commotion and panic coming from outside. When she'd gone to check, she'd seen that little stunt show in the sky.
Disappointment gave way to anger. It was unfair for the kids to have to go through this much in so short a time. It really was.
Darting out the window, Monet let out an angry yell, wishing for a moment that her set of perfect powers included a sonic scream like her friend Siryn's.
She did, though, let loose with a flurry of telepathic bombs, a skill she'd learned a little from Betsy Braddock.

No. He'd have felt that.
Their first strike had disabled many of the Mansion's defensive systems, but there were also several redundancies put into place. As he raced towards Rachel's office, he could monitor the fighting on his datapad. He swore in Shi'ar. He just had to get the defenses back up...
