Uniforms... Huh

Erin turns over a business card in her hand a few times. Her father had been taking her a little more seriously and had been pleased with her last few test scores in school. So this little card with an appointment had come in the mail at school for her.

Apparently he was of the mind she needed a uniform. Not a bad thing really. He was going to foot the bill he just wanted her to go to this one place.

She didn't want to go alone so she decided to ambush the person who knew more about this than she did.

"Hey Bruce."

Bruce looked up from his sketchpad. "Hey, Erin. What's up?"

"Oh not much." Yeah right. She has that business card in hand and keeps glancing at it.

"Yet. I guess." She's taking her time before she dives into what's on her mind.

Bruce set his pencils and sketchpad aside.

"What's on your mind, Erin?"

"My Dad is being weird again." She toys with a corner on the business card. "He normally doesn't acknowledge my grades unless I get below an eighty-nine. Hes.... a scary perfectionist."

She's not sure what to think. "He made me an appointment to get a uniform since I'm on the team. So I can 'keep my lives separate' and because I'm keeping my grades up still."

"Oh," Bruce said. "Well, that's pretty cool. The costume thing. Not the harsh not acknowledging you thing. Ms. Van Dyne usually designs most of the Avengers' costumes."

"Well I take it as if I'm not doing good he's disappointed. So I don't let myself mess up. Art is-- hard. Unless you put effort into it." She glances at the card again.

"He has someone else in mind. Her name is... Edna Mode?" She looks a bit confused. "I should just go along with it, I guess."

"I dunno," he said. "Art's fun. Work, but fun."

"Couldn't hurt to see what she has to offer."

"Well Dad's footing the bill so I expect she'll have some decent ideas. She's supposed to listen to me but..." She looks suddenly very sheepish.

"All I know is no capes for me. A cape would get in my way."

"Thor's about the only guy I know who can pull off a cape. Dude's got gravitas."

That gets Erin to laugh a little bit. "That's true."

"You want company? Second opinion?"

He paused. "Just don't tell my girlfriend I offered that."

She nods her head then smirks just a bit. "I think we can agree in a mutual not-interested pact. I don't steal other girl's boyfriends. It's a nasty thing to do and the one thing I'm glad Mother really drilled into me as being unladylike."

Bruce laughed. "Sounds good to me."

"I always have good ideas," Erin says somewhat smugly. She can't help that it's just the way she is when she knows she's right.

"And your best one was listening to me when I said to join the Avengers," Bruce countered.

[wateronthebrain]

"Well you're all a little crazy but..." She smirks a bit more. "You're also the most honest and open people I've met in a long time. It's both fun and refreshing."

Bruce smiled. "I had some good teachers."

She nods sagely. "It shows."

"So when do you go see this "Edna Mode?'"

".....Not too long from now. Dad likes to spring things on me." She rolls her eyes a bit.

"Well, lemme know when, and I'll clear my calendar."

"The day after tomorrow around five. I hope that isn't too soon."

"Nah," Bruce said. "s' fine. No classes that late anyway."

She looks very pleased with this. "Thanks Bruce."
