The Blackbird was about fifteen minutes out from Cape Citadel. Supposedly, Topher's boyfriend was going to meet the rest of them there.

Rose, meanwhile, was working up a fight plan in her head. It mostly involved slicing.

"So... we got a nutjub who thinks she's the second comin' of Magneto, somebody encoachin' on Little Miss Hellfire's trademarks, and a bunch of other flamin' nuts. What's the game plan, Summers?"

"I'm sorry. We're under the leadership of Mr. I-Still-Think-Fingerless-Gloves-is-a-viable-Costuming-Option? Yeah, this is going to end well," Brooke said darkly. "I say we just go on in and let me quell everyone into submission." Granted, she could only affect two or three people at a time, but still.

She wasn't going to be under the leadership of a Summers.

Except...Rachel. She scowled. "Unless you have a better plan," she added.

"As you are not the leader of this team, I suggest you keep your mouth shut and follow orders." N'Yami said, narrowing her eyes at Brooke. "And if you don't like it, I'm sure you're free to sit in the Blackbird and pout while we take care of things. Your choice."

N'Yami wasn't going to tolerate someone not respecting the person in charge. She just wasn't.

"N'Yami, please be nice," Topher said, placing a hand on the Wakandan princess' shoulder. "We're all a little rattled here, what with this new attack. None of us have ever really faced something of this size before." He turned to look at Brooke. "Besides, we're all in costume here. My fingerless gloves aren't the only thing that're a little outdated, right Brooke?" The implication was obvious. Brooke's outfit closely resembled what Emma Frost had worn in her earlier days, when she was mentoring the group once called Generation X.

"Truth be told...I'm trying to figure this out. But if anyone has ideas, I'm listening."

D'Artagnan was looking the picture of calm. Mostly because he had focused on bulwarking his mental shields so he was unreadable to any mental powers. "What is the layout of the field of battle? And what foes do we face? Focus on those and the strategy becomes clear."

The base, the X-Men would find as their jet drew near, was cut off from the outside world by a dome of magnetic force.

And the X-Men will probably see an enraged young man hovering over the dome, in glowing green armor, coming down hard onto a single point in the dome with a sword of bioelectric and kinetic energy.

"God, that's so hot," Topher whispered to himself as he watched Jeremiah.

Then he turned to the others. "Okay, guys. Everyone know what they've got to do?"

Frogg vs.

"They're here! They're here!" Frogg cried out, bouncing along. "The X-Men are here!"

"And not entirely alone, either, Miss," Jeremiah says, coming down with his sword drawn.

Frogg jumped up to meet him, turning it into a kick. "I'll... I'll *rbbbt* show you!"

Heavyweight vs.

Heavyweight cracked her knuckles. "Gonna enjoy this."

"Not half as much as I'm going to," Topher announced as he landed in front of Heavyweight. He cracked his knuckles and grinned darkly at her. What he wanted to get to, more than anything, was Magneta, but they were going to have to go through these women first.

So, for now, Heavyweight got his full attention.

Along with a one of Topher's superstrong punches.

The blow utterly failed to move her, her belly fat yielding and entrapping his fist.

"Gonna have to do better than that to move me, cutie," she said, throwing a punch of her own at his head.

Lady Mastermind vs.

"Damn," Lady Mastermind growled. "Though this was going to be easy."

Lady Mastermind vs. A Man-Sized Turtle & Co.

D'Artagnan jumped from the plane. He increased his density as he dropped through the sky so the impact with the ground would hurt less. He hit the ground with a heavy thump. Then he lightened his mass to crawl out of the turtle-sized crater he made.

He dusted bits of ground off his being and adjusted his swords on his belt. One should always look ones best for battle. He straightened his shoulders and started toward his assigned target. "Lady Mastermind, I give you one chance to yield! You may take it now or face cold blades of fury!"

"In other words," Brooke said calmly as she descended to the ground. "Step down, choose a different codename, and do something about that garish blonde bleach job."

Mercury vs.

[ngm_sisterhood]

"Yeah, well, shut up and get to fighting," Mercury shouted, as she zipped towards the nearest X-er.

"As you wish," N'Yami said, sending a powerful gust of wind towards Mercury.

She ran head long into the wind, pouring on the speed.

Red Witch vs.

"Crude, sister, but accurate enough," the Red Witch declared, drawing up the concentration needed for her powers to work.

"Aw, shut yer mouth, Red," Rose growled, leaping toward her to strike. Claws in. For now.

Red Witch deliberately raised both of her hands. A faint red glow, six feet in diamater, sprung up above and around her. Rose would find the air thick, gelatinous almost.

And very difficult to move through.

The others had been defeated. Unthinkable. That it was the X-Men who had opposed her only infuriated the woman called Magenta further.

She hovered above them, suspended on waves of magnetic force. "You would dare stand again me? When everything I do... I do for the future of our people?!"

"Doesn't necessarily mean it's a good future," Topher snarked. He spread his arms out at his sides and rose into the air, glaring at the other woman. "By the way, I'm pretty sure the helmet's trademarked. By my grandfather."

"The repetition of history is hardly a way of looking toward our people's future," Jeremiah growls.
